KRAFTON has today announced the BGMI LITE pre-registrations, and fans couldn’t wait for their official release. The announcement comes a day after the company announced PUBG MOBILE LIGHT, a lighter version developed for low-end devices or devices with limited hardware. Similar to what we learned in the PUBG MOBILE LIGHT version, the BGMI LITE version will be identical but purely meant for Indian players only.
A huge number of players in India use limited hardware devices or low-end smartphones for gaming, while some players prefer to keep minimum space for games and maintain enough space for everyday tasks. For such users, the lighter version is going to be a big surprise while maintaining a similar core experience.
BGMI LITE pre-registration date and launch timeline
BGMI went on Instagram to announce that the pre-registration for BGMI LITE will start on August 25, 2026. That’s exactly the same time for PUBG MOBILE LIGHT. For now, Android users will be able to pre-register the game through the Google Play Store, and the game itself is not scheduled for its official release until later this year.
Considering that KRAFTON has matched the pre-registeration timeline for both PUBG MOBILE LIGHT and BGMI LITE, it’s now obvious that the company could follow the official launch timeline too. What I’m saying is, the company may possibly release the game by the end of 2026, following the global version’s timeline. However, the exact release date for BGMI LITE remains unknown.
For those wondering, what does the lighter version bring? Well, the upcoming lighter version is being developed to bring more accessibility and wider device compatibility while matching the core overall experience. BGMI LITE download size to be around 1GB
One of the most significant differences players will notice is the game’s smaller download size. BGMI LITE is expected to carry an initial download size of around 1GB, which would make it much lighter than the original BGMI.
With the smaller package, the developers aim to reduce the hardware and storage requirements, which might result in optimized graphics, in-game content, and compressed packs inside.

Instead, players can simply use their registered IDs to log in easily. Similarly, for existing Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) players, KRAFTON said there will be no separate account-transfer process required to access BGMI LITE.
Anyway, it is best to wait for KRAFTON’s official instructions on exactly how existing account, progression, and other data will function across these versions.
BGMI LITE iOS availability is still unclear
As of now, the pre-registration is only coming on Android devices in India. Unfortunately, KRAFTON has not announced its system requirements, pre-registration, and availability for iOS/iPadOS devices. Those details are expected in the coming weeks.
