According to Ricky Panesar, founder of a London-based repair service, iConnect (via Forbes), the iPhone Ultra’s inner display repair could potentially reach GBP850 or more, which is approximately $1,155. Remember that the phone itself costs around $2,000, which means the inner foldable display repair costs more than half the price of the phone you purchase.
For context, the repair cost for the inner screen on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is around $639 and $579 for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide. It simply goes to show just how expensive it would be for Apple users to get their iPhone Ultra display repaired in case it gets damaged.
There are potentially several reasons why Apple would be charging an exorbitant amount. For starters, Apple is buying all these foldable screens for its iPhone Ultra from Samsung Displays, which is owned by Samsung, of course. Perhaps the South Korean giant will charge more for repair units, and thus, it will be passed onto the end user eventually.
Moving on, we have the unique design and liquid metal hinges onboard, developed by Apple, capable of producing a crease-free screen.
