Apple is gearing up for an always-on heart rate tracking for Watch Series 12
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is building up both Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Ultra 4 to bring an always-on heart rate tracking feature. It will be backed by a revamped fitness and health app, a much-needed way to make sense of what these sensors will be catching up with over the course of usage. It also needs to compete against popular app offerings such as Oura and Whoop.
A real-time, always-on heart-rate tracking feature means the upcoming smartwatches will be able to keep an eye on your heart rate at any given point in time. For now, the feature is limited to tracking heart rate at random or during exercises.
Apple Watch Series 12 is prepping for a ceramic finish
Well, previously we reported how Apple could be considering upgrading the finish to ceramic, a move years apart from Series 5 when Apple actually used this material for the case. We could see the ceramic case in dark gray and white color options as seen on Series 3 in 2017, although take it with a pinch of salt.
Both aluminum and titanium have their benefits; having a ceramic finish made Apple smartwatches premium and more on the cosmetic jewelry-like appearance while retaining the firepower within.
It seems Apple could resurrect the same material for both Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 as early as this year, although that remains to be seen officially.
Apart from this, I don’t think there will be any major design changes on-board when compared to last year’s Series 11 and Ultra 3 watches.
Apple has announced the ‘Surprise and Shine‘ event on September 9 at 10 am PT. This is where we will get our hands on the aforementioned Apple Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4, as well as the Apple iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Ultra, to name a few.
