ACT is already an established player in the fixed-line broadband space and the company is now trying to make a mark in the digital entertainment space as well. The ISP had earlier provided a complimentary access to some of the local streaming services to its broadband customers and it is now expanding in that area to have its own streaming device called ACTTV+, similar to the Amazon Fire TV Stick.

The finding comes from TelecomTalk, according to which, ACT is already running the trials for its announced media streaming stick with a handful of its customers in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. The report further adds that the company is also inviting its customers to be a part of this trial program. It will be an Android-based device, possibly a box going by the included marketing photo, and will work either with HDMI or USB, according to the report.

ACTTV+

Prior to this, ACT Fibernet had partnered with local content providers including HOOQ, Hungama, ALTBalaji, Yupp TV, and Fastfilmz to offer its customers free trial and access to these apps at discounted rates. Most of these services should come onboard for the ACTTV+, which should also feature other apps available easily for Android-based streaming boxes. It is still not known if international players like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video will have their apps available on this new device.

No more detail has been provided as of now, but more is expected to be available as ACT Fibernet decides for a wider availability of the device. Then, it will also be known if the ISP will sell the ACTTV+ as a bundled product only for its broadband customers or will be openly available. The Indian digital entertainment industry is booming with newer players constantly joining the bandwagon. While the streaming services are now abundant in the country, the streaming devices are currently limited to Google Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV Stick.
