It’s not until late next year that we’d be introduced to the next version of Android, that is Android N (7.0) but, Google has already begun teasing one of the most prominent features; the split screen support. The specials of Pixel C held a Reddit AMA wherein they hinted to the development of the new feature.

“We’re working on lots of things right now for N that, of course, we wish we had, you know, yesterday,”  “But we’d spoil the surprise of N if we shared all of them. Split screen is in the works!”

Andrew Bowers, Google’s director for consumer hardware.

Meanwhile, the team says that it’s as important to keep the Pixel C updated alike the Nexus devices and their regular security updates. The Pixel C will be similarly updated with improvements, including the support to the always on “Ok Google”.pixel-c-side-keyboard-open-press

“We’re spending a lot of time working with developers to get better and more awesome tablet apps,”  “But it is definitely a chicken-egg problem, and we think a key driver is awesome hardware.”

–  Glen Murphy, Director of UX for Android and Chrome.

The team accepts that Android still lacks a full-fledged system experience when it comes to tablets apps and optimisation and plans to provide more worth to the $500 tablet that is not yet the best option to buy.
