As per South Korean business news portal The Investor, LG’s VP and CEO, Jo Seong-jin has instructed the company’s mobile division to start working on its upcoming flagship device from scratch. As per an LG official, who decided to maintain his anonymity, the team of the company’s mobile communications business working on LG G7 was told to stop the development of the latest flagship and was asked to start working on its development from ground up.

LG G7 Front-Leak- January 13 2018

LG’s CEO recently revealed that the company won’t be launching new products to just provide a fitting reply to the ones launched by its competitors. And that competitor is undoubtedly Samsung, which is stopping LG from reaching the heights, both in terms of popularity and also in terms of sales.

And now, this hint shows that LG is reconsidering their decision to bring the LG G7 or whatever it may end up being called. This also makes sure that the LG G7 won’t be announced at the MWC in February, where LG has been showcasing and announcing devices for a couple of years. While Samsung launches its Galaxy S9 and S9+, LG won’t be anywhere to be seen this year, in case this report turns out to be true.

Just a while ago, we saw a photo of LG’s upcoming phone with zero bezels below the display and a dual camera setup on the front (included above), which made many raise their eyebrows. LG has been known for its approach of dual camera modules on the back for wide angle shots, but the image turned to be a fake one.

Neither, it is known yet whether LG’s 2018 flagship would be called LG G7 or something else. But, as these reports come in, it’s pretty obvious that LG may not launch a new flagship phone at the MWC and choose to unveil the well-improved and redesigned LG G7 later this year.
