Xiaomi launched a teaser some days back which didn’t actually give away anything about the device other than the launch date. But the new teaser video focuses entirely on the 18:9 aspect ratio display with a high pixel density. The teaser shows a device with a 5.9-inch Full HD+ display with the sensors, earpiece and a camera at the top. The positioning of the same is similar to the Redmi 5 Plus. Some rumours suggest that the Redmi 5 Plus, which was launched earlier in China, will be launched globally as Redmi Note 5.
Previous leaks about the Redmi Note 5 suggest that the device will sport a 5.9-inch, 18:9 Full HD+ display, which turns out to be true. Also, the phone will probably pack Snapdragon 636 SoC. Just like any other smartphone from Xiaomi, this one, too, is expected to launch in two storage variants; 3 GB/32 GB and 4 GB/64 GB storage. The Redmi Note 5 is expected to come with Android 8.0 Oreo based on MIUI 9.
In terms of camera specifications, the device will most likely hold a 16-megapixel shooter at the rear and an 8-megapixel front sensor. The Redmi 5 Plus didn’t house a dual camera setup at the rear so we can’t expect much from the Note 5 in this segment. Though, the Note 5 will pack a decent 4100 mAh battery.
The pricing of the Redmi Note 5 hasn’t been revealed yet, although, it is expected that the device may go out on sale for Rs. 15,000. Xiaomi has kept all the details behind the curtain as of now, but Flipkart has come out on top and has confirmed that the Redmi Note 5 will be a Flipkart exclusive device. This doesn’t come as a surprise since the Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 4 were both Flipkart exclusive. The Redmi Note 5 will be launched at an event in New Delhi on 14th February from 12 PM.
