If you thought that mid-range smartphones always come with a mediocre camera, you might probably be wrong – or at least this time around. Motorola, oh wait, Lenovo’s latest budget smartphone, the Moto G5 Plus has landed in the Indian markets today and is already making waves in the country. For a price of Rs. 14,999 for the 3GB RAM + 16GB storage variant and Rs. 16,999 for the 4GB + 32GB storage variant, the handset is undoubtedly the best you can get in the respective price ranges.
The Chinese company has stepped up the game by placing a camera in the Moto G5 Plus that shares similar specifications as that of the one we’ve seen in the best smartphone of 2016 – Samsung Galaxy S7. Yes, you read it right! Although it might sound a bit weird, it is only true that the image sensor used in the budget priced device is same as that of the sensor employed in the Rs 45,000 priced Galaxy S7. Both the phones feature a Sony-made IMX 260 image sensor that clicks 12MP images. Check out the complete specs below:
- 12MP sensor
- f/1.7 aperture for superior low-light performance
- dual pixels for extremely fast auto-focusing
- 1.4-micron pixel size
Although the specs sound too good on paper, we are yet to find out if the pictures taken using the Moto device can compete with the Samsung flagship. However, the wide aperture and the dual pixels auto-focusing on the G5 Plus shows that Lenovo has still got some love for the Moto brand. The wide f/1.7 aperture lens will help produce sharper and clearer photos, even in low-light environments such as indoors and night shots.
