Finally, we got an official word from the company that told us the exact date when the phone will be launched. The international launch is scheduled to happen on June 20, while the India launch will happen a couple of days later on June 22. But the leaks haven’t stopped coming and this new leak gives a confirmation that the OnePlus 5 will indeed sport a RAM of 8GB.
Like all the past OnePlus products, the OnePlus 5 will also be an Amazon exclusive in India. The online retailer has put up a webpage on its website indicating the launch of the phone to happen on June 22 at 2 PM. Interestingly, the phone will go on sale in India the same day at 4:30 PM. The page also confirms that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 835.
The news comes straight from @evleaks on Twitter that the phone will sport 8GB of RAM. The source code of the Amazon page dedicated to OnePlus 5 revealed the detail. As visible in the image, the OnePlus 5 will sport a Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.35 GHz and will have a RAM of 8GB.
Until now there was a confusion whether the phone will sport 6GB of RAM like its predecessor or will be upgraded to 8GB. This Amazon listing confirms that the phone will feature 8GB of RAM as opposed to many leaks that claimed of a 6GB one.
The details mentioned on the Amazon page read:
OnePlus 5 powered by 2.35GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor and 8GB of RAM will release on 22nd June 2017 as an exclusive at Amazon.in. Subscribe to notify and buy your OnePlus 5 only on Amazon.in
Press renders of the phone leaked a while back showing a design that is a bit too similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. The OnePlus 5 will be coming with dual camera setup on the back and the leaked image shows a horizontally placed one.
We are just a couple of weeks away from the official launch and will get to see more of such leaks before the launch happens. Stay tuned for more scoop on the OnePlus 5.
