We have been talking a lot about how OnePlus has started a new line of devices with the launch of its OnePlus Nord series. This is the second foray for OnePlus into the mid-range category but it is the first time they have started a new series. So we now know that there is an OnePlus series where they launch the flagship devices. And then we have the OnePlus Nord where we will see budget flagship devices with some compromises here and there. But the thing that is same in both these series is the OS that is inside the device which is OxygenOS.

OnePlus’ skin of Android known as OxygenOS is loved by almost everyone but that is not to say it does not have its problems. For one, OxygenOS is known to have an aggressive battery and RAM management. This means that apps keep on being killed by the Os and notifications might be missed from time to time.

However, OnePlus has now teased the latest version of OxygenOS which is OOS 11 based on Android 11. OnePlus says that the new version of OxygenOS will come with “fresh design” and it is likely to have redesigned interface. Also, OnePlus CEO hinted in a previous teaser that Always-on display for OnePlus phones is coming with Android 11-based OxygenOS.

OnePlus also mentioned that they will be “releasing the final developer’s preview build of OxygenOS 11 to give a small group of our most technically-inclined community members a chance to start testing out some of the new features” and it will be starting “On August 10”.

It is also requested by many that the battery management issues should be fixed in the latest version of OxygenOS but if it is the case, only time will tell. As for the devices which would receive OxygenOS 11 update, we believe the OnePlus 8 series and the OnePlus Nord will be first in line as expected.

After that, we will see updates on the OnePlus 7 series and later on for the OnePlus 6 series. It is worth noting that the OnePlus 5 series got their last Android update earlier this year and they are not expected to get updated anymore. However, OnePlus 5 users will still get security updates whenever necessary as per OnePlus.
