Before its global launch, South Korean giant Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy M series in India first. According to Asim Warsi, the senior vice president for Samsung India, the company will launch three devices in the Galaxy M series by the end of January 2019 before marking its global flagship launch on February 20 with probably the first foldable phone aka ‘Galaxy F’.
Although Samsung is the largest smartphone maker in terms of units shipped, it is in the second position in India after China’ Xiaomi overtook its sales back at the end of 2017. Xiaomi’s Redmi smartphones are one of the most cost-effective smartphones in the budget category with midrange specs giving it an edge over other brands, especially in India. On the contrary, Samsung smartphones are launched in a very competitive price bracket saturated by many OEMs while it also invests highly on R&D making it lose the first spot in India.
Samsung set up the world’s largest phone manufacturing plant in Noida, New Delhi, where all the three budget category Galaxy M devices will be manufactured with a price tag ranging between as low as rs 10,000/- to 20,000/-. Last month, we saw leaks for Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20, and Galaxy M30 and that is what India will get to notice first-hand before an actual global release later.
Samsung Galaxy M series is specially made for Indian millennial consumers as quoted by Warsi. It is because the phones will be manufactured with chunkier batteries ranging between 3,400 mAh to 5,000 mAh while they will be equipped with 3/4GB RAM and will have 32/64GB internal storage depending upon which model you choose.
Per GSMArena, the Galaxy M10 will feature a 6.0-inch IPS LCD display and will run on Android 8.1 Oreo OS and Exynos 7870 octa-core processor or its equivalent. The little pricier Galaxy M20 will feature a 6.13-inch IPS LCD display with an octa-core Exynos processor and will have a 13MP+5MP rear and 8MP front camera with a humongous 5,000 mAh Li-Po battery.
Finally, the larger Galaxy M30 will get a 6.39-inch IPS LCD with Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. It will run on an octa-core processor with 64GB internal and 4GB RAM configuration. Samsung will sell all three smartphones via its website (samsung.com) and Amazon exclusively starting from January 28, click here to check it out. Stay tuned on True-Tech for further updates.
