Oh boy, Nokia is back and it’s back with a bang! While the budget priced Nokia smartphones are doing great in many markets, we feel the lack of a flagship class smartphone from the company. It seems that we might get to see one really soon in the form of Nokia 8.

We have heard the name Nokia 8 in the past, too, and a few specifications of the phone had also leaked but we never got to know how the phone would look. Now that we are half way into 2017, we also have an image of the Nokia 8 smartphone, thanks to Evan Blass. Coming from a reliable tipster like Blass, the image is bound to be legit.

The image gives the clearest look at the Nokia 8 yet and the phone looks exactly like the Nokia 6 at a glance. It’s only when you look at the details, you’ll notice the several changes and new features that the phone sports. The major thing you’ll notice is the presence of a dual-camera setup along with Zeiss branding.

Nokia has been long rumoured to bring dual cameras to its flagship smartphone and this image proves the rumour correct. Interestingly, the two cameras are placed vertically, unlike many of the current-gen smartphones that went for horizontal placement. iPhone 8 is also expected to sport a vertically placed dual-camera setup.

I don’t know about others but the first thing I noticed was the perfectly aligned Android navigation keys and the fingerprint scanner on the front. They were misaligned on the Nokia 6 and were placed more towards the bottom than in the centre of the phone’s broad chin.

Just a few hours before this image was posted, Blass tweeted another image showing just the camera housing of the Nokia 8. Later the image of the whole phone was revealed that we are talking about here.

HMD Global had announced its partnership with Zeiss just a couple of weeks back and this is the phone that might be the first one to come with Zeiss optics. Zeiss had found its place in many of the famous Nokia phones from the last decade including the Nokia N95 and the more recent Nokia 808 PureView. It would be interesting to see the duo back with Nokia 8 and its camera prowess.

In terms of plain specifications, the Nokia 8 will be nothing short of a beast. It is expected to come powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor along with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, a 5.3-inch QHD display will sit on the front with normal-sized bezels all around. The rear cameras can be of 13MP each while the one on the front will be of 12MP, as per some of the reports. It will run on the latest Android 7.1.1 with little to no customisation from the company.
