Apple iPhone 17e could be coming in spring 2026 as per the reports. It will share the same OLED panel as its predecessor iPhone 16e that was based on iPhone 14. It seems we could see ‘e’ series as an annual thing, unlike the iPhone SE series that saw launches with a significant gap in-between. Here’s what the latest buzz is all about.
Waiting for Apple iPhone 17e?
As opposed to iPhone SE and how it rolled out with huge gaps in launches, iPhone ‘e’ series might be an annual thing. Apparently, Apple is working on iPhone 17e, a successor to iPhone 16e, to arrive in spring next year. It will still retain the same display as iPhone 16e, made by BOE, LG, and Samsung Displays, with the former taking a major chunk of production. It also highlights there might be changes in other sections if not display tech though.
South Korean publication The Elec took it to their report stating the presence of iPhone 17e. A leaker claimed the phone reached trial production stage in April 2025 with Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo quoting the first half of 2026 as the potential launch timeline.
With that being said, we could see Apple iPhone 17e arrive in complement to the iPhone 17 series (that are launching this fall). Similarly, we could anticipate iPhone 18e in the first half of 2027 and so on. Why a gap of six months between numbered flagships and ‘e’ series, you might ask? Well, this could be Apple’s strategy to allocate enough time for the iPhone 17 series to mature in the market in terms of sales and coverage, followed by a fresh (and affordable) launch early next year.
iPhone 16e was launched with a price tag of $599, almost $200 less than the vanilla iPhone 17. The Cupertino-based giant could be working its way up to make iPhones affordable, in which case, I don’t think so it will spike the pricing on iPhone 17e. Expect it to be around the price tag of $599, although let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
