  • Apple is working on its coveted iPhone Fold, the first-ever foldable iPhone, slated to launch this year.
  • It's interesting to see how Apple could use display technologies similar to Oppo's Find N6, rendering iPhone Fold with a crease-less display.
  • At 0.15mm and under 2.5 degree of crease angle, iPhone Fold could become a specimen just how far foldable display technologies have come.

The race to perfect foldable smartphones is heating up. Oppo is preparing to launch the Oppo Find N6 on March 17, and early reports suggest the device could feature one of the smoothest folding displays yet. At the same time, new leaks indicate that Apple may be developing a similar crease-minimizing technology for its long-rumored foldable iPhone.

While official confirmations remain limited, credible industry tipsters are painting a clearer picture of where foldable display technology is heading in 2026.

Apple is going crease-free with iPhone Fold

According to Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo, the Apple iPhone Fold will sport a crease-less display once it launches sometime this year. Although we had previous reports claiming something similar, what we have just learned is that the iPhone Fold’s display will use similar technologies to the Oppo Find N6.

Turns out Oppo achieved a minimal crease on its inner folding display. Find N6 thanks to collaboration with four major suppliers, i.e., BLT, Amphenol, Lead Intelligent Equipment, and Samsung. This will be achieved after constant and consistent upgrades, smoothing the creases with generations as any other tech would follow.

What’s interesting is that DCS points out how a certain “international manufacturer” is bringing the tech on board, and the tipster believes it is “Apple.” A previous leak plots a 0.15mm crease on the iPhone Fold’s display. It is easy to say this is indeed a crease; however, given the folding technologies and the innovations it has followed, a 0.15mm crease is next to nothing, proving notable improvements.

Tipster Fixed Focus Digital Cameras says that the crease angle is under 2.5 degrees, which hints at how smooth the fold actually is. He further points out how Apple is using Samsung’s new type of display panel to achieve a crease-free display, and we could see other suppliers working in tandem to make it a reality.

The Cupertino-based giant is gearing up for a massive launch this year, bringing iPhone Fold, the first-ever foldable iPhone, slated to arrive with the iPhone 18 Pro series later this year.
