  • Apple is on its way to bring major iPhone redesigns in the coming iterations.
  • iPhone 17 Air will bring the slimmest iPhone ever this year while 2026 will see an iPhone Fold in the making.
  • In 2027, we will see the 20th anniversary iPhone in the market possibly dubbed as iPhone 20 (possibly skipping iPhone 19 on the way).

There’s no denying Apple is actually working towards integrating major iPhone redesigns down the line. Of course, the current gen looks identical to the predecessors, but it seems like Apple could bring something new and out-of-the-box (at least in its own realm).

Get ready to witness the epitome of some massive redesign changes on upcoming iPhones, as they won’t be your usual Joe.  Mark Gurman of Bloomberg made excellent predictions on upcoming design upgrades that iPhones will see starting with the coming iPhone 17 series, followed by iPhones in 2026 and the year after. Did we get you all pumped up? Well, let’s read more about it.

iPhone 17 will just open the door to major iPhone redesigns

Time and again, we have seen the iPhone 17 series in rumors, leaks, and renders, to name a few. Although the entire iPhone 17 series, consisting of four models, won’t bring much in terms of design changes, it’s the iPhone 17 Air that has got us on our toes, as it is likely the future of iPhones.

Imagine Apple is about to showcase the slimmest iPhones ever. It will have a single rear camera, Apple’s first-ever in-house modem, and a Touch ID on-board, as some of the resorts to keep its thickness in case.

iPhone 2026 and 2027 would commence, bringing huge changes

According to Mark Gurman, it is actually the iPhone 18 series in 2026 that will see a major change. We could see a foldable iPhone launching next September. Codenamed as V68, the phone reportedly packs a quad or a penta-camera setup, giving two selfie shooters and a three-camera setup at the back.

Perhaps the iPhone 19 series in 2027 will be yet another round of changes. Apple will be celebrating its 20th anniversary, and we might see the Cupertino giant skip ‘19’ altogether to bring iPhone 20 in the stores, unless Apple chooses to name it ‘iPhone XX’ (just kidding). Do note that we could still see iPhone 19 in 2027 with iPhone 20 reserved for 2028, although this is what it is as of now.

In any case, we would see curved glass edges on the iPhone 20. I mean, imagine an iPhone with curved glass; it seems like it hasn’t been done so far, right? Well, it could be a major upgrade over the squared-off edge style used across iPhones since 2020.

Adding on, iOS will bring a new Liquid Glass interface on-board with iOS 2. It basically adds rounded edges to the interface elements, translucent layers, and coherent visual effects on-board. We will see a major calling based on those lines in the coming iterations.

Apple’s three-year plan to achieve aforementioned (or better) iPhone redesigns seems optimistic. The tech giant has been working on a slim iPhone and a foldable iPhone for ages, and this could be the time we see the phones in action.

Watch out for this space as we will take a deeper look into iPhone 17 launching in early next month.
