If you are already aware of the ads that Apple iPhones get within some of the devices such as the App Store, you wouldn’t take this piece of news proactively. According to the latest coming from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Cupertino-based Apple is expected to add more ads slot to raise their advertising revenue than the current figures.

Apple to add more ads slots on the iPhone devices

At present, you can already see some of the ads within the App Store. Here, the developers are either paying to rank on top of rank on top for the relevant search types or keywords in some ways. Apple accumulated around $3.7 billion in advertising revenue in 2021 alone which is why it is looking forward to adding more slots and serving more ads.

As of now, the ads can be seen on App Store’s Search tab as well as the ‘Today’ and ‘You Might Also Like’ sections. If the speculation turns out to be true, we are seeing ads streaming on Podcasts, Books, and Maps among others. If that’s just enough, Apple is working towards bringing ads to other Apple products including the Apple TV Plus which has the lowest subscription of $4.99/mo ad-free, and even after that, users were able to spot ads on Friday Night Baseball live streams held recently. Apple has conducted internal testing of ads on Apple TV Plus although it remains to be seen when it will release.

To back up a bit, Apple first started serving ads in 2016 on the App Store along with the News and Stocks app. Later, it rolled out an update prompting users to select whether to allow advertisers from tracking users for targeted ads or not. Dubbed the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) policy, it caused Apple a lot of monetary damage because it’s only logical that the majority of people would resort to ‘not allow’ advertisers to track users.

Changing its outlook toward advertising landed Apple in a pile of revenue of $3.7 billion in 2021 which is a 238 percent rise from the previous year. Expanding the ad arm at Apple would take the annual revenue to double digits (from $3.7mn in 2021) and thus, would require more ad slots to be served for greater revenue.
