As Apple is gearing up for the next big launch this fall, the people who have knowledge about this matter have claimed that Apple has asked its suppliers to stick to a whopping 90 million units target for the upcoming iPhone 14 series this year. Interestingly, this is the same target that Apple had last year for the iPhone 13 series launch as well signalling it expects to hurtle through the global smartphone downturn that has weather almost every other smartphone maker out there.

Apple has asked suppliers to produce 90mn iPhone 14 units

This bit of information comes from Bloomberg which quotes that people who are in the know have claimed that Apple has asked its Asian suppliers to stick to a 90mn target. This comes in times when the global smartphone market is taking a dip with 9% recorded in the June quarter and expected to dip down by 3.5% by the end of this year. On the contrary, its iPhones and iPads sales haven’t budge much which is a good signal for the giant.

With that being said, Apple seems confident that it will hurtle through the rough weather that other smartphone manufacturers are facing. It is also because the Android smartphone market is seeing oversaturation and with a loyal customer base who are willing to pay for premium products (from Apple), the Cupertino-based giant can resort to the same production target it set last year without any glitch. In fact, Apple has even resorted to keep the target of 220 million units of overall iPhones to be manufactured this year. Again, this figure is the same from 2021 which signals that Apple’s forecasting is at its A game.

Ever since the news around Apple’s forecast for iPhone 14 production this year broke out, the share prices of its Asian suppliers such as Japan Display Inc, Pegatron Corp, Murata Manufacturing Co., and TDK Corp, have started rising rapidly.

Apple is slated to launch four new models at its upcoming iPhone 14 series event. Apple is set to introduce A16 Bionic SoCs with the Pro models while others will stick to A15 SoCs. Watch out this space for more updates on what’s coming.
