Yesterday’s WWDC 2020 was a massive hit. At the event, Apple launched a string of software updates including the set of new features that AirPods Pro will get i.e. spatial audio and seamless switching between devices. Coincidentally, Apple has released a firmware update to AirPods Pro that will take the firmware version from 2D15 to 2D27. There’s a bit of mystery in the latest firmware version since Apple doesn’t publish changelogs about its AirPods updates. It’s basically a dart fired blindfolded that would or wouldn’t resolve the issue might be encountering on your AirPods.

Talking about the firmware version 2D27, it is yet to be known if by installing this update whether or not AirPods Pro attains the features that Apple released at WWDC 2020. The seamless switching between devices feature signifies that users will be able to seamlessly switch between iPhones & iPad without manually pairing it up. Another biggest upgrade that AirPods Pro was promised at the event was Spatial Audio that uses accelerometers to detect motion and user’s location to tweak the surround sound.

There’s a good chance that this could be a patch for complaints that people have been submitting to Apple with regards to the crackling and popping sound on their AirPods Pro. It could also be something to do with the noise-canceling feature but perhaps we aren’t certain about it until there’s an official announcement from the Cupertino-based company

Apple AirPods automatically updates the latest firmware, and thus, there’s no manual trigger to it. The best way to get the upgrade is to slide the AirPods in the case, pair it up with your iPhone or iPad, keep it connected to the charger and wait until the system automatically triggers an OTA update. Once it does, you will be able to use your AirPods Pro with firmware version 2D27.
