Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are here with the latest line of specifications and technology and of course, a mind-boggling price tag running in four digits for the base variants. Apple usually fixes any bugs when received, however, there is a whole ‘ChargeGate’ situation with the new iPhones as stated by numerous users.

This was bought to light when users started posted about the issue on Apple’s discussion forums for which, Lewis from YouTube channel ‘Unbox Therapy’ received an email after which, he demonstrated the extent of the problem. To start with, the Charging problem is said to be in the new iPhone XS and XS Max and yes, not every device are affected with it but it seems likes there’s a huge number of affected users.

According to the issue, when a user plugs in the phone to a lightning cable, it must charge the iPhone by default but it seems like there’s something that is preventing the smartphone to detect the lightning cable when the display is off. The iPhone resumes charging itself once you press the power button once as the screen is alive now.

But there’s more to it. When iPhone XS Max was tested, these iPhones had the same ‘ChargeGate’ problem but with something more. In some instances, the iPhone wouldn’t charge when the display is off but as soon as you turn on the display, the phone starts charging. In other instances, some of the iPhone XS Max started charging the moment it was connected to the lightning cable but it also froze the phone meaning which, you literally can’t even pick up a call when the iPhone is on charge. Lewis also found out that when he plugged in the lightning cable, the iPhone neither detected nor responded to the charge.

In many instances, users have stated that their iPhones exhibited failure charging when plugged into a lightning cable and that they had to reinsert the cable and even flip it over trying to connect it. Apple hasn’t officially responded to the problem yet. What could be the issue? Is it hardware or software issue? Let us know in the comments below.
