Google has announced a lot of great updates this week during their I/O 2018. Google I/O is an annual developer conference held by the search giant where they announce new updates and features for their services. This time Google is revamping almost everything. We will see a new Chrome design, revamped version of Google News, addition of great features in Google Assistant and much more.

Yesterday, Google announced six new voices for its Assistant. And surprisingly they are now available to some users. So what’s special about these voices? For starters, these new voices are synthesized from WaveNet. With the help of this, we can generate speech which mimics any human voice and sounds much more natural.

Holly is now the official name of the default Google Assistant voice. Google has added three male voices and three female voices. The voices are different from each other in terms of speech and speed. You can now choose the one which sounds better to you.

You can try out these different voices to see if you find it better than the default one. To do that, head over to the Google App and look for the menu and hit “Settings”, then go to “Google Assistant Settings” and tap “Preferences”. Now you can tap “Assistant voice” and test out Voices 1 through 8.

These new voices work only with the English language for now. Although, you will be able to see the list of different voices in the French language. But, you will receive a connection error everytime you will play it. Same goes for the Spanish US in which you are able to hear a demo of first two voices only.

Don’t worry the moment we will receive any info on the other languages. We will keep you guys updated. If you’re using Google Assistant in another language then go follow the above steps. Don’t forget to let us know in the comments if you can test out this new Assistant voices.
