We have seen the latest XPS series devices from Dell which is the most premium lineup of laptops from the company. In the Dell XPS series this year, we first saw the Dell XPS 13 2020 and then came the XPS 15 and XPS 17 which were announced last month. However, Dell said that its XPS 15 would only be available on sale in May because of some constraints in manufacturing and other reasons. So everyone who wanted to get a bigger display than the XPS 15 were waiting for the XPS 17. And we are happy to report that Dell XPS 17 has been made available in the US on time in the first half of June itself.

While Dell did not announce an expected date for the release of XPS 17 but only revealed “next month”, we had no clue as to when the laptops would be made available. Another interesting part of the XPS 17 being available is not only in its earlier-than-expected availability but also the pricing. At the announcement last month, Dell said that you should expect the XPS 17 to start at $1499. While the XPS 13 started at $1099 and the XPS 15 starts at $1299, we found that Dell’s pricing pattern for its entire lineup made sense.

Also, we can say that this might be the cheapest 17-inch premium laptop in the market right now because the Razer’s 17-inch laptop and even Macbook Pro 16-inch start at a higher price. But it is worth noting that if you are getting a Dell XPS 17, you would also want to have a dedicated graphics card. The Dell XPS 17 with starting price of $1399 does not come with dedicated GPU but only has the Intel UHD graphics onboard. Along with that, you have 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD and Intel’s 10th-gen Core i5 processor.

Going further, you will need to spend $1900 in order to get Intel’s 10th-gen Core i7 processor along with 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 with 4GB GDDR6 video memory. We feel that this will be a model that most users who want performance from their XPS 17 would prefer to get. Dell’s top-of-the-line XPS 17 is named as “Creator Edition” and comes with Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Max Q GPU with 6GB memory and 16GB RAM as well as 1TB SSD storage for just $2850 which is cheaper than the Macbook Pro 16 with comparable specifications.
