Google has started rolling out Gemini Personal Intelligence, a new update to its Gemini AI service that focuses on offering more personalized and relevant responses. The feature allows users to connect Gemini with Google apps such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search, which enables the AI to use existing data to answer questions more effectively.
What is Gemini Personal Intelligence?
Gemini Personal Intelligence helps Gemini understand context by securely accessing information from connected Google services. This allows the AI to retrieve specific details, such as information from an email or a photo, and combine them with broader reasoning across text, images, and videos.
According to Google, this method helps Gemini go beyond basic answers by giving responses that are suited to personal needs while still using data that already exists in the user’s Google account safely.
How it improves daily tasks
Google says Gemini Personal Intelligence can make everyday tasks easier by quickly finding information that would otherwise require searching through multiple apps. It can help users recall details stored in emails or photos, offer personalized suggestions for travel, entertainment, or shopping, and assist with planning by understanding past activities and interests.
The company says this deeper personalization sets Gemini apart from standard AI chatbots that depend only on general web data.
Privacy and data protection
Google says that privacy is central to the design of Gemini Personal Intelligence. The feature works only when users choose to enable it, and Gemini accesses connected app data only to respond to specific requests. Google also says Gemini does not directly train on personal content from Gmail or Google Photos.
To maintain transparency, Gemini attempts to explain where its answers come from, allowing users to verify the information. Users can also disable personalization for specific chats, use temporary conversations, or delete their chat history whenever they choose.

Limitations and testing
Google acknowledges that Gemini Personal Intelligence is still in beta and may sometimes produce inaccurate or overly personalized responses. In some cases, the AI may misunderstand preferences or context. Google encourages users to provide feedback when this happens so the system can improve over time.
Availability and access
Gemini Personal Intelligence is rolling out over the next week to eligible Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the United States. Once enabled, it works across web, Android, and iOS platforms and supports all Gemini models available in the model picker.
At launch, the feature is limited to personal Google accounts and is not available for Workspace business, enterprise, or education users. Google says it plans to expand access to more countries and eventually to free users.
