- Doppl app uses AI for virtual clothing try-ons and animated outfit previews.
- Users can upload photos from any source to visualize styles on a digital avatar.
- Built on Google Shopping’s advanced try-on technology launched earlier in 2024.
Google has officially launched Doppl app, an experimental app developed by Google Labs that uses artificial intelligence to offer virtual outfit try-ons. Designed to bring a more immersive and interactive fashion experience to users, Doppl allows people to visualize how clothing might look and move on a digital representation of themselves.
AI-powered virtual try-on with Doppl app
The main feature of Doppl is its virtual try-on tool. You can upload a photo of any clothing from shopping sites, social media, or thrift stores and the app creates a digital version of you to model it. This gives you a more realistic and personal idea of how the outfit might look on you.
Adding to this, Doppl has an animated preview function. It takes static pictures of clothes and turns them into AI-generated video clips. These clips are designed to show how fabrics might move and drape in real life, which helps shoppers decide if an item is both stylish and practical.
Explore styles from anywhere
One of the standout elements of Doppl is its flexible style exploration capability. Whether it’s a trending look spotted on Instagram or a vintage piece from a local store, users can try on almost any outfit by simply uploading an image. The app then uses Google’s advanced machine learning models to map the clothing onto a digital version of the user in seconds.
On top of all that, you can save your favorite try-ons for later or instantly share them with friends and followers to get their thoughts.
Built on Google Shopping technology
Doppl actually uses the same AI technology that Google Shopping already has. Google Shopping first launched its photo-based virtual try-on feature for tons of clothes in May 2024. Doppl simply takes that existing tech and puts it into a new, experimental mobile app. It’s designed to be really engaging for users and allows for quick updates based on feedback.

Availability and platform access
Since Doppl is still a new, experimental app, Google wants users to know that how well the clothes fit and how real they look might not always be perfect. They encourage users to share their feedback within the app, as this helps the team make constant improvements.
Doppl app is currently available for download in the United States via the Google Labs platform on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
