San Diego-based chipmaker Qualcomm introduced a powerful 7-series chipset called the Snapdragon 780G which is a lite version of the flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC. Cut to now, the chipmaker is working on a lite version of SD780G and it will carry a model number SM7325 and will have the moniker of Snapdragon 775G, and the first smartphone likely to get the privilege will be the upcoming Honor 50.
A leakster based in China who goes by the name Digital Chat Station has come up with the information that Honor 50 will get this new Snapdragon 775G chipset. The leakster has a reputation of being right with such information and thus, it is highly likely that the phone will surely get the new chipset.
Honor will be launching a trio in the series i.e. Honor 50, Honor 50 Pro, and Honor 50 Pro+. The vanilla version will have Snapdragon 775G while the other two are likely to have Snapdragon 888 SoC or they could have Snapdragon 870 and 888 SoC respectively. Now, this information is not confirmed so we will still have to wait before it concretizes.
Going ahead, the phone will have a 66W fast charging solution from Huawei as it was spotted on a Chinese 3C Certification. The high-end Honor 50 Pro is likely to have a faster 100W charging solution.
What’s more intriguing is the fact that Honor 50 will have an American-made chipset (from Qualcomm) which means it will have Google Mobile Services (GMS). This comes a long way after Honor was stuck between a trade war between Huawei and the U.S. Government.
There’s not much information available about the series yet except the fact that it will have a triple rear camera setup, a front punch-hole sensor, and so on. Talking about the launch, there’s no fixed date yet but it is highly speculated to arrive in June followed by sales in July this year. This gives us barely 2-3 weeks to spare and there’s no doubt we will get some concrete information about the Honor 50 series before the launch so stay tuned.
