The internet has it, the now very widely rumored HTC U is said to launch pretty soon. However, there hasn’t been a gaggle of specification and detail leaks flocking this time around. Rather, what the phone is procuring tremendous exposure for is the squeeze feature that HTC teased along with the launch date: May 16th, 2017. As it turns out; it is actually a new approach to interacting with your smartphone called the Edge Sense feature, also debuting alongside the HTC U11.

Coming in fresh and hot from the infamous leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks), we have a leak of the HTC’s upcoming device U11. Blass’ tweet confirms five different color variants of the phone. Also, however horrifying the denomination of the device may sound, there is a logic I can derive from observation. Continuing HTC’s premium range: the HTC M9 and the HTC 10, the Taiwanese company looks forward to merging the flagships, and premium smartphones donning the letter U, to a single phone. Thus, HTC U11.

Although HTC has had it worse this year with their flagships for this year, I still believe in their abilities to conceive a notable phone, and I am eagerly waiting for their market return. And what could be more reassuring than a leaked promo video showing off an astonishing feature or a manner to interact with your smartphone – the Edge Sense, which utilizes the pressure from your fingers to launch, and simple scrolls to toggle between apps and functionality. Take a look at it for yourself in the leaked promo video below.

Apart from these design leaks, a few specifications have made their way to us, sneaking away from the company’s custody. The HTC U11 is said to feature the latest and greatest Snapdragon 835 SoC and will be available in two variants: 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage. Furthermore, the phone will feature a 12-megapixel primary camera, along with dual-tone LED flash and a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The phone is also supposed to sport a USB-C port, along with  IP57 water and dust resistance, which in comparison to the LG G6 and the Samsung Galaxy S8, is lacking for a premium or a flagship device. Lastly, the phone is said to follow the market standards set by Samsung in the premium design category, by featuring a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating and metal all around.
