Amidst the unending US-China trade war, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei is gearing up for its next big launch and this time, it’s the Mate 30 series that will have two variants i.e. Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. Similar to previous generations of Mate series and P series, the Pro variants are a powerhouse to many innovative technologies and features and the upcoming Mate 30 Pro is no exception. It is speculated to have not one but two 40MP sensors at the back.
According to a Twitter leakster that goes by the username @rodent950, Huawei Mate 30 Pro is expected to have a 40MP main sensor with RYYB Pixel layout. The main sensor will be 1/1.5” in size and will have an aperture between either f/1.6 or f/1.4 backed with Huawei’s Cine Lens feature that was introduced with Huawei P30 Pro as well. Furthermore, the secondary sensor will be a 40MP ultrawide lens with 1/1.7” size and a FOV of 120° backed with Cine Lens feature as well. A previously rumored report states that both the 40MP sensors will have SuperSensing technology where the ISP sensors work in collaboration with the processor and SuperSpectrum sensor to render an image with 40% more light and thus, more detailed and clear image even at low-light conditions can be expected.
Zooming further, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro will have a third 8MP telephoto sensor with 5x zoom which is homologous to what P30 Pro offers. Finally, the device will have something called Air Glass which is a non-Gorilla Glass screen protector that Huawei appears to have been using during a recent patent application.
Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will run on the latest HiSilicon Kirin 985 SoC along with 5G integrated with it thanks to Huawei’s Balong 5000 5G modem. Huawei is expected to release its Mate 30 series sometime in October hinted by its previous launches. The Pro variant will be less with 10W reverse charging and a whopping 55W fast charging speeds although the non-Pro variant might have a slower wired charging speed that we will have to wait and find out.
No doubt there’s more to the story than just the camera setup since Mate 30 series are essentially powerful successors to last year’s Mate 20 series.
