Post Huawei Ban as imposed by the U.S. after an executive order was signed by President Donald Trump, Huawei has been in the headlines of every tabloids and news outlets even though the order to announced almost 45 days ago and has since received a 90-days reprieval period. Well, progress on the Huawei Ban has been reported at the G20 Summit Conference held this Saturday when Trump reportedly squashed the ban allowing U.S. companies to do business that includes selling and trading products and technologies to Chinese giant Huawei unless there is no national security issue.
Soon after the ban was imposed, Google discounted Huawei by refusing to provide security support to all Huawei & Honor smartphones, however, it was only after Huawei received a 90-days reprieval period that Google relaxed its separation from the Chinese giant by allowing Mate 20 Pro users get Android Q beta. The phase also highlighted how Huawei was all prepared for such calamity after its own in-house Oak OS was teased to be in development and reportedly 60% faster than the stock Android OS.
However, recent progress reveals that U.S. companies can now undertake business with Huawei after Trump renounced the list. He cited how American companies produce products that are complex and difficult to manufacture and how the companies based in the United States had to suffer after Huawei was discounted after the ban. Lifting the ban means Huawei can actually conduct business with any U.S. based company unless there is a national security matter.
This also means that Huawei can use Google’s Android OS coupled with its EMUI OS that it releases on all Huawei & Honor smartphones. However, it is unclear whether Huawei will choose to stick to the same or go through with its Oak OS as well.
Trump also highlighted how China’s President XI called him citing the ZTE US Ban and promised to pay US$1.2 billion as penalties in order to lift ban as well.
Anyways, coming back to Huawei, U.S. is still adamant not allowing Huawei to sell phones in the country as well as we don’t have any clue on whether it will choose to accept or deny using 5G equipment or infrastructure from the Chinese giant Huawei which stated how it is years ahead of even high-end competitors in terms of 5G networks. The summit also declared that the U.S. won’t declare any new tariff on imports as well.
