Chinese tech giant Huawei is on the rage of releasing its smartphones around the globe. We have seen the company is announcing the smartphones almost every week now. Huawei has unveiled its Nova 7 series of smartphones in China just a week ago, and now the company has silently announced Huawei Y8s smartphone. The Huawei Y8s is now listed on the company’s website in Jordan (country in the Middle East) with all the specifications and features but the listing did not reveal anything around the pricing and availability of the same.

The device comes with a notch and TFT LCD display which makes it look like a device from 2019. In terms of design, the device shares a lot of resemblance with Huawei P20 Lite with a huge notch and chin. The display itself is a 6.5-inches with Full HD+ resolution. Huawei Y8s comes with a classical design all around with a nano-textured back cover and a sophisticated multilayered coating process. The patterns on the back of the device are something new which reflects in a unique light and shadow effects which looks different in different lighting conditions.

The Huawei Y8s comes with a 48 MP Ultra Clear Camera which according to Huawei, can record your life with striking detail and clarity. Also, Night Photography is something the company is promoting with this device. The superior light sensor and AI algorithm can make the night shots sharper, clearer, and brighter than before. There is a dual selfie camera setup on the front. That explains the huge display notch! Sadly, Huawei has opted for 8 MP primary selfie shooter and 2 MP depth sensors.

Kirin 710 coupled with the new generation GPU Turbo which dramatically improves the CPU and GPU processor performance and accelerates the graphics processing. The device comes with EROFS super file compression technology which can radically improve the transmission speed and save storage space.

Huawei Y8s Specifications and Features

The Huawei Y8s features a 6.5-inch TFT IPS LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The display comes with rounded corners and huge bezels when compared to current generation mid-range devices. The aspect ratio of the display here is 19.5:9 with a pixel density of 396 PPI. The screen to body ratio of the device is 84.4% and the display glass is scratch-resistant and is 2.5D curved.

Underneath the hood, the device is powered by HiSilion Kirin 710 SoC and Mali G51 MP4 handles the graphic duties here. The Kirin 710 is an ARM-based midrange octa-core SoC that contains eight-processor cores out of which four are Cortex A73 cores clocked up to 2.2 GHz each and four Cortex A53 clocked up to 1.7 GHz and is built in 12nm manufacturing process. Kirin 710 coupled with Huawei’s intelligent AI powers we can expect medium to the high gameplay experience. The Huawei Y8s will be made available with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of onboard storage which can be expanded up to 1 TB with MicroSD support.

As for the optics, there is a dual rear camera setup on the back which consists of 48 MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and 1.12 um pixel size. The secondary is a 2 MP depth-sensing unit which “technically” helps to click better portrait images. There is a dual-camera setup on the front as well. The primary front-facing camera is an 8 MP beauty shooter which will shoot smoother images even with the beauty mode turned off and the secondary unit is again a 2 MP depth sensor.

The Huawei Y8s runs Android 9 Pie out of the box with EMUI 9.1 skin on top. The 3.5mm headphone jack, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor takes an account here. All this is powered by a 4000 mAh battery which sadly does not support fast charging and comes with a micro-USB port. The device comes packed with 10 W charger in the box.
