A new patent from Huawei has come to light on the USPTO database and it is intriguing. It is because the Chinese manufacturer has provided the sketch images of the patent showing a cutout for the front speaker grille while the cutout for the front-facing camera isn’t there. The patent was submitted on September 2, 2016, and it recently published on November 6, 2018. The unavailability of invisibility of the front-facing camera and the sketches of the device is intriguing in itself and has given rise to a number of spun-off rumors and speculations.

According to Android Headlines, the cutout for the front-facing camera and perhaps, there’s a thin cutout for front speakers that will escape the clutches of having a notch. The invisibility of the front camera has given rise to few possibilities such as Huawei could opt for sliding camera mechanism that we saw with Oppo Find X or a Vivo NEX S-like front and rear camera sliding mechanism altogether but the sketches show that the phone doesn’t have any traces of mechanism and referring to the thickness of the phone, both of these mechanisms are highly unlikely.

But there are other possibilities too. Such as, Huawei could opt for a flip out a front-facing camera or it could go with the latest Nubia-like no front-facing camera. Nubia, the latest smartphone Nubia, a ZTE subsidiary, squashed the stereotype of having a front-facing camera by removing it altogether with a large edge-to-edge display while the rear-facing camera does the job of selfie photos and videos thanks to the dual-display at the back that allows the user take flawless selfies hassle-free.

But again, could it be something else? Samsung is working on an under-the-display front-facing camera so it is possible that Huawei somehow tapped into the technology and might unveil with its new smartphone to be released on an undisclosed date. Talking about the speaker, Huawei could have gone for the piezoelectric speaker which doesn’t need an external speaker grille since the sound is produced via vibrations under the screen.

There are a lot of possibilities that one could think of after referring to the patent filed by Huawei so it will be electrifying to see exactly what is it. Meanwhile, the smartphone carries all other physical components including a 3.5mm headphone jack although the rear panel has caught attention too. There are basically two cutouts at the back where the first belongs to dual-camera setup while the second and separate cutout could house a LED flash or a third camera. Let us know what do you think about it.
