- Apple is rolling out iOS 26.4 beta 2, the second beta just a week after its first-ever beta was reelased.
- The update brings changes to Apple Games app, end-to-end encryption now covers iPhone to Android communications as well.
- Unfortunately, Siri 2.0 changes are yet to make their big splash. Here's what the iOS 26.4 beta 2 brings on the table.
If you are on iOS 26.3 or running on iOS 26.4 beta 1, you could be on the way to getting your hands on iOS 26.4 beta 2 on your iPhone. Well, this is a minor upgrade rolling out with no changes to Siri, Apple’s AI assistant.
Just a week after iOS 26.4 beta 1 was released, Apple has started rolling out iOS 26.4 beta 2 across participating iPhones with minor changes such as RCS encryption, the Games app, and no changes to Siri whatsoever. There’s a lot of buzz around Siri 2.0, although we are yet to see it materialize.
iOS 26.4 beta 2 rolls out with minor changes
Released as a developer beta, the update carries build number 23E5218e. The major change it brought to the table is the RCS encryption. Unlike iOS 26.4’s RCS encryption for iPhone-to-iPhone, the beta 2 expands it further to communication between iPhone and Android (and vice versa).
Note that this feature is being tested, and based on the performance and feedback, it may arrive on future iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS iterations. The feature basically prevents prying eyes from snooping on the messages you exchange with a friend, family, or anyone else.
Another change comes in the form of a setting that reduces highlighting effects under Settings >> Accessibility >> Display & Text Size.” This UI change softens the effects iOS would put on the edges of buttons and sliders if users want to reduce them.
The App Store on iOS 26.4 beta 1 got its Search bar at the top of the Search tab. With beta 2, the Search tab now comes integrated with the bottom tab on the Games app, preventing it from floating off to the side.
Other minor ticks include the “Edit” menu on the Home Screen now opting for a transparent Liquid Glass UI. There’s no update on new emoji characters so far. According to Apple, the iOS 26.4 beta 2 brings fixes and workarounds to issues such as when apps crash when downloading asset packs.
