The iPhone 14 series launched on September 7 and aren’t even on sale yet and the news around next year’s iPhone 15 series has started to run the rumor mill. According to the latest update coming from two noted Apple analysts and tipsters, the Cupertino-based giant is expected to create differentiation between the Pro and the current Pro Max variant giving some exclusive features to the latter. In another update, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is likely to be called iPhone 15 Ultra, that’s it. Read further to know more about it.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max to be renamed Ultra
Last week, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentioned that it makes sense if Apple switched to a new branding for the Pro Max variant. He pointed out that iPhone 15 Ultra seems to be an apt naming system given the fact that it goes in line with Apple’s existing naming system for the M1 chips i.e. M1 Pro, M1 Max, and M1 Ultra, and its successors.
It’s not just Mark but Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who tweeted that Apple is expected to hike its Pro shipment allocation thanks to the iPhone ASP. It could be an indication that Apple will switch the iPhone 15 Ultra moniker from the existing Pro Max branding.
In related news, Apple will also make some differentiations in its top-of-the-line iPhone. It will use something called a precise product segmentation strategy to generate more profits by integrating the Pro Max (or Ultra) with some exclusive features than the Pro variant.
To put things into perspective, Apple currently has two lines of devices segregated as Pro and non-Pro variants. Although the difference between these two is huge, the two models launched in the Pro segment show major differences. Except for a larger battery, larger display, and a few other things, the two Pro variants are almost the same. On the other hand, the Pro variants have an upper hand over the non-Pro variants thanks to a new SoC, ProMotion display, design changes, and especially Dynamic Island.
What Apple is trying to do here is to make some features available exclusively to the top-of-the-line product aka the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or Ultra). In any case, we are still a year away from the iPhone 15 series launch so it’s quite too early to comment on the same
