- Apple iPhone 17 Air is launching in September as the thinnest iPhone ever.
- It is speculated to bring a 2,900mAh battery pack on-board enclosed in a L-shaped stainless steel cladding.
- A new battery adhesives on-board iPhone 17 series will aid in easy replacements as well.
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air battery capacity might not be what you think. In a feat to keep the phones at its lowest thickness ever, the battery is apparently the one taking the most hit, as we recently got to see some alleged battery pack images for the upcoming iPhone 17 Air.
iPhone 17 Air battery capacity reportedly set at 2,900mAh
Tipster Majin Bu posted some photos showing the stainless steel-clad battery packs for the iPhone 17 Air. Apparently, these packs signal a capability of 2,900mAh, which is slightly on the lower side of iPhones. I mean, the iPhone 16 falls around 3,561mAh. Bu further added that based on previous rumors that hinted battery capacities between 2,800mAh and 3,000mAh, the 2,900mAh capacity looks legit.
Apple is using an all-stainless steel cladding for the battery pack in an L-shape. This is to accommodate the reduced logic board, and something the Cupertino-based giant used last time as well. Moreover, these battery packs will use a type of adhesive that can be loosened using low-voltage electrical current. This means Apple is trying to make the iPhone 17 Air’s battery pack easily replaceable. Apparently, these adhesives will be a part of the entire iPhone 17 lineup, which should be great for iPhone users.
A purported internal testing for iPhone 17 Air shows a battery capacity between 60% to 70% when used for a whole day, while the figures for other iPhone models are around 80% to 90%. We still have a few weeks to go, which means Apple could tweak the performance and optimize the batteries to return with better numbers, though.
The upcoming iPhone 17 Series is slated to launch on September 8. This is the place where we get to see a number of models — iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone 17 Air, to name a few. Note that the dates aren’t confirmed yet, so take it with a pinch of salt as well.
