We saw iQOO 7 with a Snapdragon 888 5G SoC under the hood a few months ago. iQOO has now updated the lineup with its premium range of iQOO 8 series of devices with Snapdragon 888+ SoC under the hood, 120W fast charging, and 120Hz refresh rate as some of the traits. Here’s the information on the recently launched iQOO 8 and 8 Pro that hits all possible premium features flagship smartphones should have in 2021.

iQOO 8 and 8 Pro Pricing and Availability

When it comes to pricing, the iQOO 8 gets a price tag of CNY 3,799 (or $585) for the base 8GB+128GB variant while the topmost 12GB+256GB variant is up for sale at CNY 4,199 (or $647). Its Pro variant comes in two trims as well i.e. the base at 8GB+256GB that sells at CNY 4,999 (or $770) and the mid-variant is up for sale at CNY 5,499 (or $848) for a 12GB+256GB variant. Finally, the topmost variant at 12GB+512GB is available at CNY 5,999 (or $925). According to iQOO, the vanilla iQOO 8 will go on sale from August 24 onwards while the Pro goes on sale from August 26.

iQOO 8 and 8 Pro Specifications

Talking about the Pro model aka iQOO 8 Pro, the device sports a 6.79” Samsung E5 LTPO OLED panel boasting a 1440p resolution. There’s a variable 120Hz refresh rate that goes as low as 1Hz when needed. The display is rated with 10-bit support producing 1B+ colors and has been rated with A+ by DisplayMate.

The vanilla iQOO 8 gets a tad bit smaller 6.56” AMOLED FHD+ panel with a variable 120Hz refresh rate under the hood.

The iQOO 8 Pro gets an overclocked Snapdragon 888+ 5G chipset with a max 2.99GHz frequency, an Adreno 660, and UFS 3.1 storage at up to 512GB. On the other hand, iQOO 8 has the same GPU but with Snapdragon 888 at 2.84GHz max frequency and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There’s up to 12GB of RAM on both the devices.

Talking about the optics, the vanilla iQOO 8 gets a 48MP Sony IMX568 primary sensors along with a 13MP portrait and a 13MP ultrawide snapper. The iQOO 8 Pro gets a Sony IMX766 50MP primary snapper with a 7P freeform lens. The primary sensor has a gimbal stabilization as well. It is flanked by a 48MP ultrawide snapper and a 16MP portrait camera. This completes the rear camera setup. The front camera is handled by a 16MP snapper on both devices.

The powerhouse gets a 4,350 mAh battery on the vanilla iQOO 8 while the Pro variant gets a beefier 4,500 mAh battery with 120W charging tech on both devices capable of juicing up the battery in just 18 minutes (for vanilla). There’s a 50W wireless charging support on-board as well along with 10W reverse charging on the Pro variant.

iQOO 8 and 8 Pro run on the latest iteration of Android i.e. Android 11 with OriginOS 1.0 in China. There’s no news on its international variant at the time of writing this.

iQOO 8 Pro gets a black and a white color variant where the latter gets a BMW M branding while the former gets a premium carbon-fiber-like finish. On the other hand, the vanilla iQOO 8 gets orange and white as two matte glass options along with the two mentioned on the iQOO 8 Pro part.

The iQOO 8 series gets the Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, NFC, Radio, a Type-C port, a dual speaker setup, and more on-board.
