UPDATE: users that recharged their plans before April 6th, 2017 will be able to avail the benefits of Summer Surprise offer.
Last week, Jio announced a new offer for already subscribed prime members called the Summer Surprise. This offer provided Jio Prime users with a complimentary 3 months of 4G internet based on the plan they paid and subscribed to. However, a minimum of Rs. 303 recharge is required to keep the 1GB daily FUP going, along with unlimited data at night. Customers subscribed to higher plans, will be provided with respective FUP limits as per their plans. For instance, customers who topped up with Rs. 499 are eligible to receive a 2GB FUP for their daily usage, not to mention the freebie recharge that came along with this pack. This deal designates Jio as the cheapest wireless 4G LTE internet network, providing a total of 119GB at a rate of Rs. 2.55 per GB.

Nonetheless, a recent press release by Jio informs us that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has passed down a notice, prohibiting Jio to continue providing the Summer Surprise offer. To remain in the market and to fully abide by the regulator’s advice, Jio has planned to pull back the Summer Surprise offer, along with the free benefits that followed. This notice does not only affect the company but is also very unjust to the customers who were willing to purchase the Prime membership by 15th of April, 2017, especially for this wonderful deal. Therefore, it’s recommended that customers who are willing to continue using Jio’s services with Summer Surprise should push a recharge of any recent plans soon, before April 6th, 2017 11:59 PM.
The market is currently owned by Jio with more than 100,000,000 total customers, out of which 72 million have already subscribed to the network’s Prime membership. Apart from that, Jio has also made efforts to improve the connection speeds and connectivity with their plans to set up 100,000 towers in the near future. While the contemporary situation may be perceived with generous efforts by many, some may have a different outlook, perceiving Jio to swindle customers into buying the Prime membership since the company was not able to gather enough crowd. Be that as it may, the circumstances are seemingly unavoidable for Jio as a company, which disables them to provide justice to their subscribers who were planning to get the membership especially for the Summer Surprise offer, by 15th April 2017.
