Reliance Jio has one job – to disrupt the market every few months. It is dirt-cheap internet packs then and now it is a ‘free’ phone. Like people queued to get their own Jio SIM, the masses have turned up to pre-book JioPhone. The Jio website recently opened pre-bookings of the phone and was closed soon after as ‘millions have pre-booked’.
The number of people visiting the Jio website was so high that the website crashed just a few hours after the JioPhone pre-booking was opened on August 24 at 5.30 PM. Later, a banner was displayed on the website informing that the pre-booking has now been closed and many more millions were left disappointed.
Since you’re here reading this, I am sure that you weren’t among those millions who made the cut. Jio has suspended the pre-booking without informing the date by when they will be resumed. However, the banner asks the people to register their interest to be the first one to know when the pre-booking resumes.

Clicking on the ‘Register Now’ button will lead you to a form that seeks your personal details including name, email, phone number, and pin code. And in case you want JioPhone or JioFi for business, that can also be registered from the same page. You’ll just need to provide some additional information such as company name, PAN/GSTN, and the number of units of either of the devices required.
For the people who got lucky and managed to pre-book their JioPhone, they will be able to check the status of their order by dialling 1800 890 8900. The information will also be provided via the MyJio app. The amount you’ve paid for pre-booking will be adjusted during the delivery of the phone.
In case you’ve forgotten, the JioPhone is a candy-bar phone that comes with some smart features. It is one of the first such devices to come with 4G VoLTE capabilities that will be provided using the single SIM card slot. You will be getting a 2.4-inch QVGA display, Jio apps including Jio Cinema, Jio Music, and Jio TV, NFC for contactless payments, SD card slot, and what not.
If that wasn’t enough, the JioPhone features include support for 22 Indian languages, 2MP rear and a VGA front camera, dual core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, and a battery of 2000mAh that gives 12 hours of talk time. Jio has developed its own voice assistant for this phone that will allow you to do tasks just by asking your phone, obviously a first for a feature phone.
