LG builds some solid flagship phones with top-notch specifications, but the company has struggled to earn a decent market share lately. Immense competition from various Chinese brands has made the survival of many smartphone brands quite challenging. Last year, LG launched its first 5G smartphone at MWC 2019, the V50 ThinQ. The smartphone also came with a case that housed a secondary OLED display that could be connected to the phone, making it a dual-screen phone. Now as per reports from a Korean website, LG will be launching its successor at MWC 2020, named “LG V60 ThinQ”. The website quotes:
“LG Electronics is planning to showcase V60 ThinQ as next year’s first smartphone to expand its presence in the 5G market,” said an industry official who asked not to be named. “The company is expected to increase its shipments in South Korea, the United States and Japan.”
Just like its predecessor, the V60 ThinQ will also have an accessory which will add a second display to the phone. The website also reports that the smartphone will have an upgraded folding structure. The earlier version had a “free stop hinge” technology, which helps in holding the screen still at any position while folding. The screen may not look like what we have seen on the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X, as these phones have a single screen that folds. LG V60’s two screens might also have some slight bezels in between when joined, which will result in a user experience not as good as the other two smartphones.
Well, these are just speculations as of now and we will have to wait for LG to officially launch this smartphone. The specifications of the phone also remain unknown yet, except that the phone is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform with 5G support.
