Meizu is going to launch its latest flagship this month, the Meizu 17. A Weibo tech blogger even conducted a survey where people voted it as the most anticipated upcoming flagship smartphone in China. The phone is the successor to the Meizu 16s launched last year, which was a pretty solid smartphone for its price. Meizu 17 will be the first 5G smartphone from the company, and if leaks are to be believed, the first smartphone from Meizu with a punch-hole camera as well.
Specifications:
Recently, the phone got 3C certification in China. It was from there we came to know that the phone will support 30W fast charging that will be Meizu’s own “mCharge”. The phone also supports 5G as it will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 Soc, along with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 internal storage. On the back, we’ll see a horizontal quad-camera setup with a ring flash in between, if the recent renders and camera watermark leaks are to be believed. The design is unique and different when compared to some other flagship smartphones launched this year. The phone will run on Flyme OS 8 on top of Android 10.
While these are the specifications that are almost accurate, there are some rumored specifications making rounds on the internet too. According to some leaks, the phone will have a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. A hole-punch selfie camera will also be present in the display. The phone will use the Sony IMX686 as the primary sensor for rear cameras, paired with a 20MP wide-angle lens and a 12MP telephoto lens. Inside will be a 4,500 mAh battery with 30W fast charging, as mentioned earlier. The phone might also support wireless charging. Meizu’s own “mEngine” horizontal linear motor will also be present in the phone. WiFi 6, NFC, dual stereo speakers, are some other features the phone will be packed with.
Price
Meizu 17 is expected to be launched in 3 different variants. The 8+128GB variant might be priced at, ¥3999 ($574/₹43,000), the 8+256GB variant might be priced at ¥4299 ($606/₹46,200), and the 12+256GB variant might be priced at ¥4699 ($662/₹50,500).
Launch Date:
Meizu 17 is expected to be launched this month, which is, April. The phone will be launched in China, and will later make its way to other markets as well. A leaked camera watermark from Flyme OS hints that a Pro version of the phone is also under work, but it might launch sometime later this year. Like other companies, Meizu will hold an online launch event that can be live-streamed through the company’s official website. There is a rumor that the event will take place on April 15, but it is dubious. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Meizu might postpone the launch of the phone, but chances are pretty less.
