According to a recent report by TeleAnalysis, Micromax is shutting down its sub-brand YU Play God, or commonly just known as YU. The primary reason for this seems to be that Micromax doesn’t find any differentiating value for YU.

YU launched its first phone during the end of 2014. They did release a few new models, but there hasn’t been a single phone launch for a year now. The last phone they launched was back in May 2016. This alone goes to show that there’s something up with the company and that things aren’t going well for them. The company didn’t respond too well either, with a petty response from Rahul Sharma who said ‘Just wait and see’.

The site claims that they have confirmation from sources, some current employees and few ex-employees of the YU company, that Micromax has already discontinued YU Mobiles. All the workers and necessary units have been merged with the parent company, Micromax.

Talking about the actual units left but they don’t people don’t seem to be buying it anymore, primarily because it runs Cyanogen OS which has also been long dead and won’t be providing updates and services anymore.

The sources also suggest that although pretty much everyone from Micromax wasn’t so much willing to start a new company, it was Rahul Sharma who insisted on it.
