As promised, Motorola G 5G Plus is official now and will be up for sale tomorrow i.e. July 8th in Europe. The smartphone brings 5G to the Moto lineup at the cheapest price which is its USP. However, it will be released in the U.S.
Talking about the specs, Moto G 5G Plus features a stunning 6.7” FHD+ 90Hz panel with HDR10 compliant. It comes with two punch-hole camera cut-outs on the top-left bearing a 16MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. On the back, there’s a quadruple-camera setup in a squaricle camera bump which includes a 48MP primary sensor, a 5MP macro sensor, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The USP of the Moto G 5G Plus is its Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 SoC which comes with an X52 5G modem from Qualcomm that gives it the ability to register a 5G network. However, the phone works on a sub-6GHz 5G network and not on mmWave 5G network where the latter has an upper hand in terms of reliability and capability. The phone has two variants I .s. 4/64GB and 6/128GB that you can buy.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by a ginormous 5,000 mAh battery coupled with 20W TurboCharge fast charging technology that was leaked a few days ago. The phone has managed to retain 3.5mm headphone jack for those who love their wired headphones and earphones with a 3.5mm jack (of course).
Then again, not everything on Moto G 5G Plus is great. There’s no fingerprint scanner which is a fundamental unit on a smartphone nowadays for authentication. Furthermore, it doesn’t have a wireless charging tech and no waterproof coating as well which are obviously cons when you consider the phone’s price.
Starting at $392.27 (349 Euros) for 4+64GB, the phone is the cheapest 5G device from Motorola while its higher tier 6+128GB is available at $449.42 (499 Euros) which gives it an advantage over other 5G phones from Moto family. To put things into context, the Moto Edge ($699), Moto Edge Plus ($999), and even the 5G Moto Mod that arrived a few years ago are expensive compared to the sub-$500 pricing the available has rolled out with.
Motorola Moto G 5G Plus will go on sale on July 8th in Europe. Further, Motorola has promised that the phone will arrive in the UAE and Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks. There’s no Moto G 5G Plus in the U.S., however, the tech giant has confirmed that the country will get their own sub-$500 5G phones soon.
