Motorola confirmed that it will launch its innovative Motorola Razr foldable phone in India on March 16. However, due to the ongoing outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Motorola has officially declared that it will be holding an online launch event.

Motorola sent out a official email confirming that due to the ongoing pandemic caused by Coronavirus that the World Health Organization (WHO) has deemed as an emergency of international concern, the company has decided to let go an on-ground in-person launch scheduled on March 16. It will instead hold an online event that will be broadcasted live on YouTube and Facebook among other channels allowing interested buyers in India to have a glance at it as it launches in the country.

The event is scheduled to commence on March 16 at 12:30 IST and will be sold via Flipkart. Talking about the specs sheet, Motorola Razr arrives with a 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC under the hood. The phone will also sport a 2,510 mAh which although is a small battery but considering the fact that its user base probably is interested in buying the innovative foldable phone’s technology rather than clinging to the small battery size.

The phone’s design is inspired by Motorola’s Razr V3 that was launched in 2004 with a clamshell design and a T9 keypad with small LCD panel on-board. The new foldable Razr will instead have a huge 6.2-inch dual-screen foldable OLED panel with the same clamshell design. It will sport a 16MP rear and a 5MP front camera setup so don’t expect it to be a camera performer as well.

Apparently, the device is already available in the US at a price tag of whopping $1,499 or Rs 1,11,075/- as per the time of writing this. Neither Motorola or Flipkart has revealed the Indian pricing at this moment although the speculations are that the phone will cost more than a lac rupees without any doubt.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has caused many companies to amend their launch schedules such as Apple iPhone 9 has been postponed indefinitely while the Chinese smartphone makers Realme and Xiaomi are likely to launch their upcoming smartphones online as well.
