Crowdfunding can be really helpful to get businesses off the ground, there are actually a few awesome products that came out of project on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, such as the Pebble smartwatch, the Ouya game console and many other products. Every once in a while a ridiculous campaign shows up, offering users a “revolutionary” product that’s almost impossible to make, and the product is made to score the creators some cash in the campaign. And, a few days ago a new product showed up that sounds a bit like a “revolutionary” product, and looks almost impossible to make, the product is called the Comet, it is the first water-resistant and buoyant phone.
After you saw the word “buoyant” and smartphone you may think: “How is that possible?”. You can believe it or not, but Comet Core, the company behind the phone, implemented three fins into the phone’s chassis that will pop out the second that your phones gets in contacts with the water. Comet Core doesn’t really explain how this works, they only tell that their engineers put in “lots of time and effort” to design this wonder phone.
So, if you can see past the three fins, the ridiculousness seems to be endless at this phone. The Comet also offers high-end specs that fits amazingly well in today’s high-end market, The device has a 4.7-inch Quad HD display, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 supported by 4GB of RAM, a 4000mAh battery, a 16MP shooter at the front and back. At the sides of the phone you’ve mood-recognizing LED lights, and their own “Bubble Messenger” platform that’s exclusive for Comet phones.
Are you hooked on this? Than you can take advantage of the company’s early adopter price, then you can grab the Comet for only $230, the phone comes completely unlocked. If the phone even makes its way into production, it will ship around May 2016. Or comet is really thinking that they can bring this phone into production, or this is a big scam. I don’t have any information about that, but it seems highly unlikely that the Comet really is going to make his way into production. It isn’t a flex funding project, so if Comet doesn’t reach their $100.000 goal before the 6th of July, no money will be rewarded to Comet.
