Nokia G50 5G is finally here and it brings a Snapdragon 480 SoC with 5G connectivity joining the wagon with Nokia X10 and X20. Here’s more about the phone post its launch.
Nokia G50 5G Pricing and Availability
The Nokia G50 5G arrives in two storage trims i.e. 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB and the pricing starts at EUR 270 which loosely translates as $320 although the pricing for each region could differ.
Nokia G50 5G Specifications
The Nokia G50 5G arrives with a Snapdragon 480 SoC tired with two big cores clocked at 2.0GHz (Cortex-A76) plus six smaller Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 1.8GHz. It is supplied with an Adreno 619 GPU that handles the graphics part. This gives G50 a major boost in terms of performance when compared to Nokia G20 that was powered by Helio G35 instead. The phone also has a Snapdragon X51 modem that supports a sub-6 5G network with speeds of up to 2.5Gbps. The chipset is flanked with 4/6GB RAM and 64/128GB of storage that can be further extended to up to 512GB using a microSD card slot.
Moving on, the phone has a 6.82-inch LCD 720p+ panel with 450 nits of typical brightness. This goes without saying that the display wasn’t a priority for the smartphone brand.
Further, the device uses a 48MP plus 5MP ultrawide and a 2MP depth sensor at the back arranged in a circular camera bump with the lens taking out four corners of a square with the fourth being an LED flash. A waterdrop-shaped notch at the front houses an 8MP selfie camera.
Nokia G50 5G gets its power from a 5,000 mAh battery with an 18W fast charging tech that gives a wholesome battery backup of about 2 days according to Nokia although I am quite sure it will last 1½ days on normal usage without fail.
Other connectivity features that you will find with Nokia G50 5G are NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with BeiDou and Galileo, USB-C 2.0 port, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a dedicated button for Google Assistant.
Nokia G50 5G Software & Updates
The Nokia G50 5G arrives with Android 11 out-of-the-box. The near-stock Android OS support brings 2 years of major Android OS and 3 years of security patches that are released monthly. For the uninitiated, this covers Nokia G50 5G till Android 13 to arrive next year and the security patch will go live till the end of 2024 thanks to its G-series branding whereas the X-series of Nokia smartphones get a year of extra support on both fronts.
