OnePlus gaming phone could be the next to launch, as per a reputed leaker. The Chinese smartphone maker is preparing the OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 for release on July 8. Moving on, it seems the smartphone giant is working towards a gaming phone, at least in the Chinese market. Let’s dig a bit deeper to find out the know-how.

Buzz around the OnePlus Gaming Phone

Tipster Yogesh Brar took to X to discuss the possibility of a new subseries of phones aligned towards the gamers sect of users. The phone is at an experimental phase as per the best of our knowledge, which means the potential model is being tested and refined in concept before the push for a potential launch.

As you can tell, there’s no specific information available w.r.t. the upcoming OnePlus Gaming Phone as of writing this. We do expect the phone to have flagship-grade specs or otherwise, why bother, right? We could see larger batteries thanks to the advent of Glacier battery tech developed by OnePlus, which means better battery life and extended gaming sessions.

Other features we could see with the upcoming gaming phone are gaming-optimized displays with high refresh rates, possibly shoulder triggers, a fast charging tech is a must, and a few other stuff here and there.

Gaming is in OnePlus’ DNA & Now It’s Reprising It

A OnePlus Gaming Phone might seem alien today, but given the fact that the Chinese brand actually started as a flagship killer and focused heavily on gaming, we are seeing nothing short of the old OnePlus charm infused in a new chassis.

I have used OnePlus 6 for years and believe me, I pushed every inch of it on a game like PUBG, and it never cracked. Of course, its battery size was not suited for long-term gaming, but then, I found a way around plugging in the charger to keep the phone alive before the battery could go off. I have used a couple of OnePlus phones since then, and gaming as a niche is already infused in its DNA.

However, OnePlus has since laid low in the gaming sector pushing its phones more on the flagship USP, however, with the news breaking in, I am more excited than ever to see OnePlus back in action. I am sure we could see the phone actually launch in the market in coming months although whether it will leave the Chinese borders or not, is a question.
