However, battery tech has taken leaps and bounds over the years. OnePlus is working on a new battery tech called ‘Glacier Battery’ debuting on June 20 that will change our outlook towards a healthy battery life.
OnePlus could start a new battery tech revolution with the new tech
There’s nothing much that we know about OnePlus’ Glacier Battery technology as of now. However, the company has been posting about the new tech on its Weibo page, often teasing it with ‘high-performance’. The Chinese smartphone maker further followed up by teasing ‘more capacity’, ‘eliminate frequency charging’, and killing ‘battery anxiety’, among others.
OnePlus Glacier Battery Technology is in the works
Turns out that OnePlus has partnered with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. (CATL) — one of the largest battery technology companies in the world. Although OnePlus hasn’t been vocal about the new ‘Glacier Battery Technology’ along with CATL, it is bound to arrive on June 20.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, we could get to see the new battery tech onboard the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro which is speculated to host a 6,100mAh battery. Although Ace 3 Pro is for the Chinese market, we will get to see it rebranded as the OnePlus 12T in the global market probably next year. DCS further added that the battery would be ‘8.x mm’ in size which isn’t that large compared to the density (6,100mAh) it is offering. Moreover, OnePlus and CATL are likely working on batteries that have higher density and a high charging speed.
OnePlus Ace 3 Pro is at the goldilocks zone on battery life
Reports further mention how a 6,100mAh battery with 100W (Ace 3 Pro) charging speed could be among a sweet spot that other smartphone markers may not be able to achieve just yet. Yes, there are devices with higher battery sizes but slower charging speeds and there are phones with faster charging speeds but lower battery sizes.
It gives the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro an advantage offering the best battery size and charging speed, although we will get to see what’s cooking at the OnePlus on June 20.
