- OnePlus 15 is undergoing a radical design change - it is upgrading to a squaricle camera bump.
- This is a massive departure from the existing circular bump that the Chinese maker has been using since OnePlus 11 in 2022.
- OnePlus 15 will bring on-board a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC and will mark its debut this October in China followed by global debut early next year.
The OnePlus 15 is coming in October, and with some design changes, at least with the rear camera bump. Apparently, tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) went to Weibo, hinting at the same as the company’s departure from a usual circular camera module to a squarish one. Here’s what the buzz is about.
OnePlus 15 to get squarish camera bump
DCS hints that OnePlus is moving away from a circular camera bump, something it had been using since the OnePlus 11 launched in 2022. Instead, it will adopt a squarish or squaricle camera bump housing two or three rear camera sensors plus an LED flash. A previous leak hinted at a 50MP primary plus an ultrawide and a tertiary periscope telephone sensor that aligns with the upcoming model.
Apparently, only a few things are known about the OnePlus 15, an early adopter of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC, as the phone races to its launch sometime in October this year. This gives the OnePlus 15 the opportunity to tap into the flagship market, as there won’t be many models with this chipset apart from the usual competition coming from Xiaomi and other markets.
OnePlus 15 leaks suggest a flat 1.5K display using LIPO packaging for reduced bezels. This should unlock a near edge-to-edge experience for the users while also protecting the delicate display with new-aged liquid polymer materials that keep it durable and sturdy.
Moving on, we have a 7,000mAh battery on-board, something that has been tipped a lot of times. It is also because OnePlus has worked upon Glacier Technology that allows it to pack in a denser battery without increasing its size and thus, packs in more juice. This will be backed by a 100W fast charging tech that should refill the battery in a jiffy.
OnePlus 15 is also touted to come with an IP68/69 rating and an ultrasonic under-the-display fingerprint scanner. It is speculated to arrive in October (in China), followed by a global launch in early 2026, aligning with its previous launches. There’s also the OnePlus Ace 6 and OnePlus 15R in the works that ensure buyers have sufficient choices when picking a OnePlus phone in the coming months.
