While we are all talking about the Apple WWDC event as well as somewhat about the latest version of Android and its similarities with the iOS announcements last week, OnePlus has been quietly working on its new product line which will reportedly be called “OnePlus Nord”.
Not only is the OnePlus Nord going to be a new product line in the affordable segment, but many reports also claim that OnePlus Nord will be spun-off from its parent company into a sub-brand by OnePlus. It is also evident from OnePlus’ marketing that they are claiming this to be a “new beginning” hyping it up as a new brand rather than just a product line with a dedicated team as well.
On the other hand, OnePlus Nord is very close to being launched as the company has started talking about it and there is an invite scheduled for July 10 where this device will be announced in India. Due to that reason, OnePlus is also starting to trickle down news to media with an exclusive report from Android Central being published last evening. According to Android Central, they can now “reveal” that there will be dual cameras at the front on the OnePlus Nord. These cameras will be a 32MP primary camera and an 8MP secondary camera for selfies.
This will be the first time that OnePlus will bring dual cameras to the front of any of its device. So far, there has only been a single camera on the front of even flagship devices from OnePlus with most of them being 16MP sensors. Also, the dual cameras on the OnePlus Nord will be in a punch-hole since it is reported that there will be a cutout “located on the top left corner”. This dismisses the reports that there will be a centred punch-hole display on OnePlus Z or Nord.
For those questioning the report, Android Central’s reporter says that he has “seen the final version of the phone that will go into mass production” so there is not much left to be desired here as far as its accuracy is concerned. Also, the specifications of OnePlus Nord have also been confirmed with a Snapdragon 765G chipset and 90Hz AMOLED display.
While this report does not reveal the pricing, it does talk about the hints from OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei about a $299 starting price and a rumoured Rs. 24,999 price tag in India which might turn out to be true. If that’s the case, OnePlus Nord might turn out to be a winner from the company and bring the audience that wants flagship-level phones from the company at an affordable price just like the OnePlus One days.
