The Oneplus One came in sight last year and was introduced with an invite system, but after a year we finally can buy the Oneplus One without an invite.
The celebrate the debut of the Oneplus One, they finally announced that they’re going to throw away their invite system. The phone is finally available without an invite in every market where Oneplus is operating.
A little while ago Oneplus started selling the One without an invite every Tuesday. But now the sales window is permanently open, the startup thinks it’s mature enough to manage an open sales model.
In celebration of this Oneplus is also discounting the flip covers and screen protectors by 75 percent and they opened up the sales for the bamboo StyleSwap cover, while the supplies last.
If the invite system really annoyed you, there is some bad news. Oneplus isn’t putting the system behind for good, when the Oneplus Two comes later this year the device will be offered through the same invite system. And Oneplus said this about it:
“We’re committed to maintaining razor-thin margins in order to give as much value as possible back to our users, and this drastically increases our risk. The OnePlus 2 will bring the challenges that come along with a brand new product, and initially, our invite system will help us to manage that risk.”
For now the question is, how many people who wanted a Oneplus One still haven’t got one in their hands. When the Oneplus One launched a year ago, the market for “affordable-flagship” was weaker than today, not to mention that the One has to face new devices, like the Zenfone 2, with its 4GB of RAM.
