OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X Marshmallow Update Dates Announced
So finally, putting our burning questions to rest, OnePlus finally makes a thread on So finally, Marshmallow update dates are announced for OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus X.
OnePlus One
As Cyanogen commits, the OnePlus One is scheduled to update to Marshmallow with CyanogenMod 13/12.x or CyanogenOS 13/12.x in the first quarter of 2016. This already seems a little late and we all know how Cyanogen’s promises are. Apart from that, let’s see how Cyanogen is able to innovate and bring so many more new features to the CyanogenMod 13/12.x or CyanogenOS 13/12.x. For that, we need to wait for the nightlies which may come out soon™ as usual.
“For the OnePlus One, Cyanogen OS will be updating to Marshmallow in the first quarter of 2016.”
Again OxygenOS OTAs won’t be delivered to the OnePlus One as it doesn’t ship with OxygenOS. It’s not an official OxygenOS device so the updates may be delayed, as OnePlus says.
“We created a community build of OxygenOS for the OnePlus One, but this isn’t what the product officially ships with. We will be updating the community build of OxygenOS for the OnePlus One when time allows.”
OnePlus 2
The OnePlus 2 also will be updated in the first quarter of 2016 (Q1 of 2016). OxygenOS updates have been promising and punctual. OnePlus is yet struggling to bring new and innovative features to OxygenOS as the OS is new but, it is crazy good. The update is said to include the new fingerprint sensor API from Marshmallow (which might improve he quality of the sensor).
“The OnePlus 2 will also be updated in Q1, and the update will include the new standard Marshmallow API for the fingerprint sensor. We’ve heard requests for us creating an API for the current fingerprint implementation in OxygenOS, but have decided against this since we’re switching over to the standard Android M implementation soon.”

Coming to the newer budget device that OnePlus has recently launched, it is of course going to be updated to Marshmallow and receive the latest version of Android but, there were no exact dates announced right now.
“We are working hard to bring Marshmallow as soon as possible to the OnePlus X, and will update you on a time frame at a later time.”
That is it for now, stay tuned for the review of the new OxygenOS, CyanogenMod/OS with OnePlus 2 and OnePlus One.
