We have already covered the exclusive OnePlus 8 design diagram which shows us the quad-camera setup and the 120 Hz display configuration. Now we are getting the news about the System-on-chip(SoC) of the upcoming OnePlus 8 series. It is obvious that OnePlus will use the latest SoC but the Geekbench listing confirms that Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC will be used by the OnePlus in their next-gen flagship smartphones i.e., OnePlus 8 series.
The Geekbench listing a smartphone with the codename GALILEI IN2025 is supposed to be the OnePlus 8 as it shows the RAM to be 8 GB but we already know that the Pro edition will be equipped with 12 GB of RAM. And the motherboard column is labeled as “Kona” which is none other than the Snapdragon 865 chipset.
As this is just a score listing, the actual device can vary in numbers. At this time we don’t know that OnePlus 8 will be paired with 8 GB of RAM as the only variant or a base variant. If it is the base variant, then we surely expect a 10 GB or 12 GB variant as well.
Here is what we already know about OnePlus 8 series
From previous leaks and rumors, OnePlus to launch three versions of OnePlus 8 i.e., OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 lite and OnePlus 8 Pro. Whereas the name suggests, OnePlus 8 Pro will be packed with most premium features and OnePlus 8 lite the least.
There will be a quad-camera setup in the rear for all the variants and a single & dual punch-hole selfie camera setup in the front for OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro respectively. The rear camera step up will be paired with the dual-tone flash and the camera set up will vertical and housing will be in the upper mid-portion of the smartphone. OnePlus seems to be ditching the pop-up mechanism and going for a punch hole cut-out for their selfie camera(s) this time.
Additionally, OnePlus might use the 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor as the main camera but the rest of the camera configuration could be a bit different this time.
Regarding the design and the display, most hyped, OnePlus 8 Pro to be shipped with 120 Hz refresh rate display but we are not sure about the other variant. It might or might not ship with the 120 Hz refresh rate display. As this is a premium feature, OnePlus 8 Pro will get the first chance to get it. Well, it is all up to OnePlus whether to ship OnePlus 8/8 Lite with a 120 Hz refresh rate display or not.
The other placements like volume rocker, alert slider, and power key have the same position as the previous-gen OnePlus smartphones. And obviously, OnePlus will ship the in-display fingerprint sensor but with better and improved performance.
Now regarding SoC and RAM configuration, Oneplus will ship Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC which will be paired with 8 GB of RAM as a base variant which will go up to 12 GB and we can expect 128 GB on-board storage as a base variant and will go up to 512 GB (or maybe 1 TB) which will be equipped with UFS 3.0(or 3.1) technology.
We are also hearing the new Warp Charge 50 which is the new 50-watt fast charger, there is no news about the battery but we can surely expect a good configuration from here too.
