OnePlus today announced the most hyped and most powerful smartphones: the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro, with a ton of top-notch specifications. We already cover a few articles, and we always admired and predicted that the OnePlus 9 series will be huge, and the OnePlus proved it to be right. OnePlus is using some of the best hardware in the industry. From camera to system-on-chip, everything is the best available right now.

Last year CEO Pete said that “OnePlus has always prioritized a premium user experience over everything else. Beginning in 2021, we are making a concerted effort to significantly improve the smartphone camera experience for our users, with the expertise of a truly legendary partner in Hasselblad.” OnePlus has already been using flagship hardware from OnePlus One onwards and now with the best camera lens, it could break all the records.

OnePlus 9 Series Design

OnePlus always tries to implement the best, sleek and unique design, unlike the other on-going trends in the industry. Now, with OnePlyus 9 series, the company has again proved that a smartphone can be small and sleek as well as powerful at the same time. OnePlus has used a 2.2 mm aluminum frame to give a perfect bezel-less design to both OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro.

This time, OnePlus has implemented a curved design for both smartphones. The curved design on the back and lightweight give the device a comfortable feeling in the hand. The OnePlus 9 Pro has the IP68 water and dust resistance rating which will be very helpful if you are a sports enthusiast, now you can actually take a deep dive with the smartphone.

Speaking of the design, both the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro has a simple and clean front design. The display houses a small punch-hole cutout of the selfie camera located at the top-right corner. The OnePlus 9 has a triple rear camera housing along with a led flash at the top left corner in a vertical manner, whereas the OnePlus 9 has a similar setup but with three cameras instead of four in 9 Pro.

OnePlus 9 Pro Specifications

The OnePlus 9 Pro features a 6.7 inch QHD+ Super Fluid OLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz. The company is saying it the Fluid Display 2.0, which defines a mobile display technology with LTPO technology. In case you don’t know about LTPO, low-temperature polycrystalline oxide or LTPO is an adaptive technology where the system automatically scales the refresh rate from the current highest to all the way down 1 Hz to reduce the system stress, which ultimately saves the battery. The display also uses the Hyper Touch technology that provides a touch sampling rate of 360 Hz. Other than that the device houses a small punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The display also houses the under-display fingerprint sensor, according to OnePlus, it is much faster and accurate than the predecessor. Other display features include up to 1,300 nits peak brightness, 10-bit color depth, E4 emitting material, HDR10+.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, paired with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of onboard storage, working on UFS 3.1 technology that offers up to 6400 Mbps transfer speed. The Snapdragon 888 is a 2.84 GHz octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 680 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 680 & 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 680) SoC with Adreno 660 GPU for better graphical performance.

In the camera department, the smartphone features a quad-camera setup at the rear and a single selfie camera setup at the front. The quad rear camera setup includes a primary 48-megapixel Hasselblad lens with a Sony IMX689 sensor with a sensor width of 1/1.43-inches, with an aperture of f/1.7, a secondary 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera lens with the Sony IMX766 sensor (1/1.56-inch), a tertiary 8-megapixel telephoto lens with up to 3.3x optical zoom with OIS and 30x digital zoom, and finally a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor.

Speaking of the new Hasselblad Pro Mode, the lens offers an accurate and natural color for a solid foundation, also the lens provides a Natural Color Calibration. Other camera features include 2×2 OCL (on-chip-lens), 12-bit RAW, dual native ISO, and 3-HDR. The camera can shoot up to 4K at 120 fps, and according to the company, the main camera can shoot up to 16-times the pixel count of a 1080p video.

The device is fueled by a 4500 mAh battery that can be charged using the 65-watt fast charger. The device is utilizing the dual-cell mechanism which we already saw with the ROG Phone 5 smartphone. According to the company, the user will be able to charge the OnePlus 9 from 0-100% within 29 minutes. The device also supports one of the fast wireless chargers around the globe, as the company has implemented the dual-cell design, therefore OnePlus has created a wireless fast charger named Warp Charge 50, which actually charges both the cell simultaneously at 25-watts each. OnePlus claims that the device can be charged from 1-100% within 43 minutes using the wireless charger.

The device runs on the company’s latest and most improved OxygenOS 11. The good thing about OxygenOS 11 is that it isn’t boring and dull like the stock Android but at the same time it isn’t heavy like other custom UIs offered by various OEMs. The device includes all the basic connectivity options and all the basic sensors, like WiFi 6, 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C 3.1, Under-display fingerprint sensor, accelerometer sensor, etc.
